According to a new report, the host of "The View" may be angling to get herself fired from the controversy-plagued talk show -- entirely on purpose.

An insider tells Page Six that the Oscar winner -- who earns $5 million a year to serve as the lead host on the daytime talk show and is now in the final year of a four-year contract -- "has been at war with the management."

"Whoopi has been so antagonistic, she's constantly at war with management," a show source also told Page Six. "It's so bad that some execs think she's daring them to fire her so she can go off and do other things, particularly after her 'slave' outburst. She knows if they did fire her, they'd have to pay out her contract and she'd be paid $5 million for doing nothing."

The "slave outburst" the source is referring to is just one example of Whoopi's goading behavior, reports Page Six. It allegedly happened last year when Whoopi walked around the workplace saying, "I's a work for ABC, who is my master. I's a slave to ABC. It's '12 Years a Whoopi' at ABC," a reference to the film "12 Years a Slave."

"Whoopi loves the money, but she doesn't want to work so hard anymore," the show source told Page Six. "She doesn't come in prepared, she doesn't really engage with other panelists and guests. She gives some one-liners and moves on."

According to the insider, if Whoopi actually does want to renew her contract when it's up at the end of the season, "it would be for significantly less money."

Whoopi's rep called Page Six's report "entirely untrue," and a rep for the network denied there's any Whoopi drama brewing. "We hope Whoopi is here for a long time to come. She is a vital part of 'The View' who delivers every day as moderator and always comes to play," the spokesperson told Page Six.

Whoopi's co-hosts on the show currently include Raven-Symone, Candace Cameron Bure, Joy Behar, Paula Faris and Michelle Collins, although recent reports insist some of them may be on the chopping block as well.
