New Orleans Jazz Fest 2013

Slide 1 of 25

The good times are rolling in the Big EasyMSN Music For more than 40 years, the end of April and beginning of May has been cause for celebration among music fans: That week signals the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, a rockin', raucous celebration of music that originally focused festival-goers' attention on New Orleans' vital role as a crucible for blues, gospel, jazz, R&B and rock 'n' roll. The sheer scale of the event, spread over two consecutive weekends, enabled a feast of roots music that made Fest a Mecca for fans from around the country and the world, and helped bring lesser known regional styles such as zydeco a wider exposure. Today, Jazz Fest has its own high-wattage lineup of major rock, country, urban and pop stars headlining shows during this period, but savvy fans will still be sure to check out what's playing on the stages at the Fair Grounds as well as at the ticketed evening shows. Laissez les bon temps rouler, ya'll!
