Noomi Rapace Joins Will Smith in Legendary's Sci-Fi Movie 'Brilliance'

By Jeff Sneider

Noomi Rapace is set to star in Legendary Pictures' BRILLIANCE directed by Julius Onah from a script by David Koepp. Joe Roth, Thomas Tull, and Jon Jashni will produce the film. Alex Hedlund, Palak Patel and Eric McLeod will executive produce.  The picture will fall under Legendary's deal with Universal.

The story, based on Marcus Sakey's novel, follows people with heightened cognitive abilities, called "brilliants," including federal agent Nick Cooper whose gift makes him exceptional at hunting terrorists.

Rapace will next star in CHILD 44 and WHAT HAPPENED TO MONDAY; her past credits include THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO and PROMETHEUS. She is represented by CAA and Magnolia Entertainment.

The novel was published by Thomas and Mercer, an imprint of Amazon, in August 2013.  "Brilliance" is the first of a planned three book series with the second book set to be released later this year.

Legendary's recent releases include 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE and the Guillermo del Toro directed PACIFIC RIM as well as the Jackie Robinson biopic 42 and MAN OF STEEL with Warner Bros. In addition to WARCRAFT, highlights from Legendary's upcoming slate include GODZILLA, based on Toho Company's famed character and CRIMSON PEAK.
