Now That's What I Call Music ends Frozen soundtrack's reign in U.S.

6/17/2014

The 50th edition of the Now That's What I Call Music compilation series has ended the Frozen soundtrack's winter chill at the top of the U.S. album charts. It took a hits collection, featuring songs by Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, Bastille, Lorde and Bruno Mars to topple the Frozen soundtrack, which has spent 13 nonconsecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard 200. Now 50, which shot to the top of the countdown with 153,000 first-week sales, becomes the 18th album in the series to hit number one. All 50 releases have reached the top 10. The first U.S. Now compilation debuted in 1998. Meanwhile, the Frozen soundtrack slides to number two, country star Hunter Hayes' Storyline debuts at three and new albums from Sarah McLachlan (Shine On) and Tech N9ne (Strangeulation) round out the new top five. Also new to the top 10 are Atmosphere's Southsiders and Santana's Corazon.
