Brown began working at Vulture in 2008, one of the site's earliest editors, before taking Culture Editor in 2012.

Cruz has been managing editor of Vulture for the past two years and has helped expand the site's traffic in both unique users and page views  up 60 percent from last year. (The site said it averaged 7.7 million monthly unique visitors in the first quarter of 2014.)

"I expect Lane and Gilbert's combined talents to drive Vulture forward into the next phase of its growth, and the print pages to ever greater strength," editor-in-chief Adam Moss said in a statement.
