Paulina Rubio settles 2010 concert lawsuit

6/18/2014

Latin superstar Paulina Rubio has settled a lengthy legal battle over a cancelled concert in Colombia in 2010. The Mexican singer was sued for breach of contract by promoters at Miami, Florida-based CMG Entertainment after she allegedly failed to honour a deal to play a gig in Tunja. They demanded almost $1 million (£625,000) in damages, but Rubio maintained she did nothing wrong and blamed bad weather for derailing her flight to Colombia. The case had been due to go to trial in 2012, but it was postponed on numerous occasions and now Rubio's attorney Rey Dorta reveals the two parties have finally reached a "friendly agreement" to end the court fight. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but the settlement was presented to Miami-Dade County Judge Abby Cynamon on Monday (02Jun14). Rubio was not present for the brief hearing.
