Revenge of the (Rock) Nerd

Slide 1 of 14

By John MoeSpecial to MSN MusicRock music is built on the idea of cool. Elvis Presley, Jim Morrison, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, Tupac Shakur, Jay-Z and Beyoncé are all talented artists with real musical gifts, but let's be honest: They wouldn't be where they are now without their unquestionable sense of style, savoir faire and overall coolness.Popular music, however, is sort of like a high school: There are cool kids, but there are also nerds, dorks, geeks, dweebs, even a doofus or two -- and they appeal to the inner nerd in all of us. Their music is a little more eccentric, their lyrics tend to be more arcane and sometimes a bit cerebral, and their fashion sense sometimes veers between ridiculous and nonexistent. Here, in chronological order of their debut records, are some of our favorite Nerd Rock All-Stars. First up: Buddy HollyWatch "The Odd Couple" in concertJeremy and Claire Weiss
