'Six Feet Under's' Lauren Ambrose Joins USA Thriller 'Dig'

By Jethro Nededog

USA Network's event series, "Dig," has added yet another talented person to its cast.

Lauren Ambrose has signed on for the six-episode event series' six episodes as a dedicated follower of evangelist Ted Billingham (David Costabile). She spends most of her time looking after fellow disciple 13-year-old Josh (Zen McGrath), but when Josh suddenly disappears Debbie begins to question the beliefs and choices that have led her to this isolated place.

Ambrose is best known for playing Claire on HBO's "Six Feet Under." Her long list of television credits include "Party of Five," "Law & Order" and "Torchwood." Her film credits include "Sleepwalk with Me," "About Sunny," "Wanderlust," "The Other Woman," "Cold Souls," "A Dog Year," "Starting Out in the Evening" and "Diggers."

In addition to Costabile and McGrath, she joins previously announced "Dig" castmembers Jason Isaacs, Anne Heche, Alison Sudol (A Fine Frenzy) and Omar Metwally.

From co-creators and executive producers Tim Kring ("Heroes") and Gideon Raff ("Homeland"), "Dig" stars Isaacs as Peter, an FBI agent stationed in Jerusalem who, while investigating a murder of a young female archaeologist, uncovers a conspiracy 2000 years in the making. It's set to premiere this fall.

UTA and Kipperman Management represent Ambrose.
