Taylor Swift Cancels Bangkok Concert Due To Military Coup

Celebrated singer Taylor Swift was cancelled her sold-out concert in Bangkok, Thailand due to a military coup d'etat that took place last week.

The cancellation was announced by concert promoters BEC-Tero, who posted an official statement on their website which read, "Due to recent events in Thailand, Taylor Swift's concert in Bangkok scheduled for Monday June 9, 2014 has been cancelled. This has been a difficult decision for all parties. Taylor, AEG, BEC Tero and 13 Management all express regret and sincere apologies to the fans in Thailand….We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding."

Swift later tweeted an apology to her fans.

The political upheaval in Thailand reached a tipping point last week when the military overthrow the Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, and enacted a 10pm curfew across the country while prohibiting international news organizations from entering or reporting from the country.

However, Swift will continue the Asia leg of her Red tour. She is set to play in Shanghai, China on May 30, followed by concerts in Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and finally Singapore on June 12.
