The next big names in comedy

Slide 2 of 11

Rob RiggleWith his big, broad frame and hearty, bluff manner, Rob Riggle comes by his volume and vigor naturally: The 42-year-old stand-up and actor is a lieutenant colonel in the Marine Corps reserve and has served in combat zones ranging from Afghanistan to Liberia. The 6-foot-3 Riggle spent time on "Saturday Night Live" before jumping to "The Daily Show," but he's also made his way to film with assurance and skill, often playing bombastic blowhards who then get their comeuppance to our amusement. You've seen Riggle in "21 Jump Street," "The Other Guys," and he even voiced pint-sized plutocrat Mr. O'Hare in "The Lorax." With his extensive connections to the improv world in both New York and L.A., Riggle's a consummate pro who can liven up any film, whether alongside big names like in "Larry Crowne" and "Big Miracle" or as part of a micro-budget indie like in "Nature Calls." The big question now is if he can make the jump to leading man without losing the big, bold brashness that makes him funny in the first place, or if that's even a career path he wants to take, considering how good he is at livening up scenes with better-known actors.Bing:More about Rob Riggle | More about 'Nature Calls'For more movie news, follow MSN Movies on Facebook and Twitter.
