Amy Adams responds to Valentino's Philip Seymour Hoffman funeral gaffeFollowing Philip Seymour Hoffman's high profile funeral last week, Valentino apparently issued a press release touting the fact that "American Hustle" Oscar contender Amy Adams had carried one of their purses to the service. The New York Post ran a story on the item, quoting a spokesperson for the fashion house as saying, "We are pleased to announce Amy Adams carrying the Valentino Garavany [sic] Rockstud Duble [sic] bag from the Spring/Summer 2014 collection on Feb. 6 in New York." It didn't help matters that the accompanying headline was "Dead Carpet."A higher-up PR VP for Valentino quickly attempted to smooth things over by issuing an apology. "We sincerely regret releasing a photo to the media of Amy Adams with a Valentino Bag. We were not aware the photograph was taken while she was attending the wake of Philip Seymour Hoffman. It was an innocent mistake and we apologize to Ms. Adams who was not aware, or a part of, our P.R. efforts," said the statement.A rep for Adams also chimed in, assuring E! that the actress "is not a paid spokesperson for Valentino, and the suggestion she would use this moment to participate in a promotion is truly appalling."RELATED: Philip Seymour Hoffman's funeral attended by Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep and many other stars
