They’re also Oscar winners!

Slide 1 of 10

By Glenn Kenny Special to MSN MoviesThey're beautiful, they're hot, they're studly. In some cases they're screen icons. The following stars are known by many as cosmetics-and-fashion-promoting beauties, barrier-breaking cable stars or top liners in big-ticket (and sometimes cheeseball) action movies. Their current (or remembered) on-screen incarnations sometimes lead us to forget — they're also Oscar winners! Anna Paquin (1993)You may know her as Sookie Stackhouse, the feisty, and frequently unclothed, Southern telepath vampire-battler in the HBO series "True Blood." But the now-thirty-year-old Paquin is, in real life, from a different southern region — while born in Canada, she was largely raised in New Zealand, and it was there, at around the age of ten, that she was cast in the role of Holly Hunter's young daughter in the Jane Campion movie "The Piano." She won a Best Supporting Actress award for her work in that movie. She was the second-youngest winner of an Oscar (the youngest was Tatum O'Neal for "Paper Moon"). She resisted acting for a bit after that, but then capitulated, and wound up in a couple of X-Men movies and more before "True Blood" came along.Bing: Watch a trailer for 'The Piano' | See photos of Anna PaquinKeep up with MSN's Academy Awards coverage on Facebook and Twitter.(Live/Artisan)
