Titanic musical's Broadway return postponed

6/17/2014

Plans for a Broadway revival of the hit Titanic musical have been postponed because producers cannot find a home for the sinking ship drama. Titanic, which follows the story of the infamous 1912 maritime disaster, was scheduled to set sail on the Great White Way this autumn (14), but theatre bosses have been forced to delay the production due to "the lack of availability of a Broadway house". In a statement, they add, "Revised plans will be announced as soon as scheduling allows." The original musical won five Tony Awards following its opening in 1997, the same year James Cameron's movie epic of the same name hit cinemas, and ran for two years. The new show will be directed by Thom Southerland.
