TV Shows That Should Be Movies

Slide 1 of 13

Our favorite small-screen series that seem suited for the big screenBy Michaela SinclairSpecial to MSN TVLooking back at last fall's failed futuristic television series "Terra Nova," we wonder if the show would have been better received as a big-screen film instead. After all, it was helmed by Hollywood's power producer Steven Spielberg and rumored to spend upwards of $20 million for just the two-hour pilot, so this dinosaur series certainly had the right elements to be featured in a movie house. This season, NBC brings us "Revolution," premiering Monday, Sept. 17, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Like "Terra Nova," "Revolution" takes place in the future, 15 years after a "blackout" that forces humans to survive without electricity and technology. With such an ambitious plot, in addition to J.J. Abrams producing the series and Jon Favreau directing the pilot, "Revolution" sounds like it would make a great sci-fi blockbuster film. Both Favreau and Abrams are no strangers to blockbuster hits, having worked on the "Iron Man" franchise and "Star Trek," respectively. Now that A-list actors are continuously making the transition back and forth from television to film and per-episode production costs rival that of indie films, it's a no-brainer that certain television series could do well on the big screen. In anticipation of the debut of "Revolution," we take a look at other upcoming shows that could succeed as movies.
