BCDF Pictures, which produced the female comedy hit Bachelorette"–starring Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher, and Lizzy Caplan–with Gary Sanchez Productions, is about to begin production on the high school comedy "The Outskirts," based on a script from last year's Black List of the best unproduced screenplays.

The female-centric comedy stars Victoria Justice ("Victorious") and Eden Sher ("The Middle") and boasts a cast of some of today's most talented young actors, including Ashley Rickards ("Awkward"), Peyton List ("Jessie"), Avan Jogia ("Twisted"), Claudia Lee ("Kick-Ass 2"), Katie Chang ("The Bling Ring"), and William Peltz ("Men, Women & Children").

Peter Hutchings ("Rhymes with Banana") will direct the film from a screenplay written by Dominique Ferrari and Suzanne Wrubel.  Shooting begins this summer in New York.

The movie is seen as "Mean Girls" meets "Revenge of the Nerds." It tells the story of best friends Jodi (Justice) and Mindy (Sher), who have suffered years of torment under the thumb of the school's alpha female (Lee). They plan to ride out their senior year under the radar, but when they become the victim of an epically humiliating prank, the two hatch a plan to unite the outcasts of the school and start a social revolution. They join forces with an affable slacker (Jogia), a girl scout with a secret (Chang), and an overachiever with dirt on everyone (Rickards).

The film was developed by New York-based BCDF Pictures, with Brice and Claude Dal Farra producing. The executive producers are Lauren Munsch and Brian Keady from BCDF Pictures, and Victoria Bousis from Bousis Films.

Red Granite's foreign sales arm, Red Granite International, led by Danny Dimbort and Christian Mercuri, is handling international sales on the picture, under the title "Cool Girls."

"We are thrilled to be working on a movie that is at the same time very entertaining and also deals with an issue like high school bullying. Rarely do we find scripts that can deliver such an important message while appealing to wide audiences," commented Claude Dal Farra.

Justice is repped by UTA and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein, while Sher is with APA, Kritzer Levine Wilkins Griffin Nilon, and Skrzyniarz & Mallean. Rickards is repped by UTA, Kritzer Levine Wilkins Griffin Nilon, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush & Kaller; and List is with UTA, Untitled Entertainment, and Wilhelmina Creative Management. Jogia is repped by ICM, Characters Talent Agency and Kritzer Levine Wilkins Griffin Nilon; while Lee is with Paradigm, Joanne Horowitz Management, Strong Management, and Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein Kohner & Gellman. Chang is with ICM, Carole Dibo Management, Soffer/Namoff Entertainment, and Peikoff Mahan. Peltz is with WME and Untitled Entertainment, and Ferrari and Wrubel are repped by Circle of Confusion and Bloom Hergott Diemer Rosenthal Laviolette Feldman Schenkman & Goodman.

BCDF's previous films include "Higher Ground" (Sundance 2011) starring Vera Farmiga; "Peace, Love & Misunderstanding"(Toronto 2011) starring Jane Fonda, Catherine Keener, Elizabeth Olsen, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan; "Liberal Arts" (Sundance 2012) starring Josh Radnor and Elizabeth Olsen; "Why Stop Now" (Sundance 2012) starring Jesse Eisenberg and Melissa Leo; and "Bachelorette" (Sundance 2012) starring Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher, Lizzy Caplan, Rebel Wilson, James Marsden, and Adam Scott.

"Bachelorette" has been particularly successful. The film was released theatrically in over 25 countries, hit #1 on the iTunes chart within 48 hours of its digital premiere, and at the time became the highest grossing multi-platform title on VOD.

BCDF is packaging a wide range of new projects, with an eye toward bigger, more studio-friendly films.
