Weinstein Partners With Indie Powerhouse Worldview on Multi-Picture Deal

By Jordan Zakarin

The Weinstein Company has announced a five year, multi-picture deal with indie film company Worldview Entertainment.

According to a release, TWC will provide Worldview no less than four domestic theatrical and ancillary distribution slots per year with P&A commitments over the term of the partnership, while also acting as sales agent on a number of Worldview films.

In addition, Worldview — which is behind Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu's upcoming dark comedy "Birdman" and John Hillcoat's crime thriller "Triple Nine" — has come on board to co-finance several Weinstein films. Those include Justin Chadwick's period drama, "Tulip Fever," starring Christoph Waltz, Dane DeHaan and Alicia Vikander; and Simon Curtis' drama, "The Woman in Gold," starring  Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds.

"We love working with Worldview, they are savvy about movies and the business of movies," TWC Co-Chairman Harvey Weinstein, and COO David Glasser said in a statement. "We greatly look forward to strategically joining forces with them and look forward to a long and prosperous business relationship."
