J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" (2009) was a bold reboot of this much-loved sci-fi franchise that has given the whole shebang a needed shot of adrenalin. The thrilling, action-packed plot and the new actors' fantastic portrayals of the Enterprise crew and all their quirks has put this series back on the top of geeks' must-see lists this year. Abrams' penchant for secrecy has served its purpose, because Trekkies have been speculating about every second of those trailers' scenes and what they might mean. Abrams states that, "The goal for this movie was definitely to up the ante as much as we could." From what we've seen so far, the ante seems to have been upped several notches.With the release of "Star Trek Into Darkness" the Starfleet crew will again face peril on both a galactic and a personal scale. This film definitely looks and feels darker, and the enemy is not a green-blooded creature with a prominent cranial ridge, but a human -- the official synopsis describes him as "a one-man weapon of mass destruction."Here's what we are beyond excited to see when Kirk and the gang take us forward to the 23rd century.
