In the wake of Debbie Reynolds’ death on Wednesday, the Hollywood vet was mourned by TV daughter Debra Messing.

After first reacting to the “devastating” news on Twitter, Messing expressed her sorrow in an extended Instagram post, where she described her Will & Grace mom as “loving, and bawdy, and playful.” (As you’ll recall, Reynolds recurred as the outrageous Bobbi Adler, for which she earned an Emmy nomination in 2000.)

“My heart is literally broken,” Messing wrote. “For eight years she was my mom. She was pure energy and light when she came on stage. She was… a consummate pro — old-school and yet had the work ethic and investment in her craft of a new fiery up-and-comer.

“I lost my [own] mom a few years ago. She loved that Debbie was my TV mom. I hope they find each other and hug and kiss and my mom says, ‘I got you, Debbie. Carrie’s waiting for you.’ RIP Bobbie Adler.”

Will & Grace‘s Sean Hayes also responded to the news of Reynolds’ passing, remarking on Twitter that he “overwhelmingly adored & admired” the Hollywood icon.

Reynolds’ death came just one day after the loss of her daughter, writer and Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher. According to Reynolds’ son, Todd Fisher, the actress had voiced her desire to “be with Carrie” just hours before she ultimately died.
