MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Two seventh-graders with starring roles in the film "Moonlight" have returned as Oscar winners to their Miami-area middle school.

Twelve-year-old Alex Hibbert and 13-year-old Jaden Piner played the film's two main characters as children. The movie based and filmed in Miami took home three Oscars Sunday night, including the award for best picture.

On Wednesday, Alex and Jaden went back to drama class at Norland Middle School in Miami Gardens. Their teacher, Tanisha Cidel, also had a role as a school principal in the movie.

Both boys said they figured it was a joke when the audience was belatedly told the top award went to "Moonlight" and not "La La Land." When the mix-up was corrected, they had to jump over other audience members to reach the stage with the rest of the cast.
