SpaceX Releases 60 'Flatpack' Satellites As Part of Global Internet Program

SpaceX launched a rocket carrying 60 satellites from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on May 23. The Starlink satellites, which the company says are capable of providing high-speed internet, were released into orbit at the same time. It was the highest number of satellites the company has deployed at once. SpaceX live-streamed video of the launch of its Falcon 9 rocket and satellite deployment on Thursday night. This was the third attempt at the launch after two earlier launches were reportedly abandoned due to weather and software issues. SpaceX describes Starlink as a satellite network “capable of connecting the globe … with reliable and affordable broadband internet services.” Credit: SpaceX via Storyful
