Firefighters push veteran home after motorized wheelchair dies

Three firefighters from Raytown Fire Protection District in Missouri are receiving praise after they helped a wheelchair-using veteran get home on April 16. Footage shared to the district’s Facebook account shows three crew members pushing the veteran after the battery for his electric wheelchair died. According to Yahoo Lifestyle, who spoke with deputy chief Mike Hunley, the man was on his way to fish in a small pond near a cemetery when his wheelchair became stuck in muddy grass. “Neighbors tried freeing the man but no one was strong enough so they called us,” Hunley said. The firefighters were able to free the man and get him back on dry ground, and pushed him back home. Credit: Raytown Fire Protection District via Storyful
