Passengers Stuck in Long Lines at Dulles Airport During Customs Computer-System Outage

Passengers arriving from overseas encountered long lines in the customs and immigration hall at Washington Dulles International Airport on August 16, after US Customs and Border Protection experienced a computer-system outage, local media reported. “CBP is experiencing a temporary outage with its processing systems at various air ports of entry [and] is taking immediate action to address the technology disruption. CBP officers continue to process international travelers using alternative procedures until systems are back online,” Customs and Border Protection said in a tweet. A report from WJLA said the outage was nationwide. New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport, New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, and Los Angeles International Airport tweeted that they were also affected by the system outage.
