Backstreet Boys Postpone Pennsylvania Show 8 Minutes Into Performance Due to Thunderstorm

The Backstreet Boys were forced to indefinitely postpone a show in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, August 18, due to heavy thunderstorms. The 1990s boy band was due to perform at the Hersheypark Stadium but had to halt their gig just a few minutes after the concert began. Earlier in the evening, organizers had delayed the concert by about two hours and told fans to take shelter from a downpour, hoping the bad weather would blow over. “Due to incoming storms, if you are in Hersheypark Stadium, seek shelter under the grandstands. If you have not yet entered the venue, head to Hersheypark Arena or stay in your car,” Hersheypark Stadium tweeted at 7.18 pm. Fans then filed into the stadium to watch the show. Then the show’s indefinite postponement was announced on Twitter at 9.16 pm as more storms approached. “Hey Hershey! Due to the approaching storm, we must fully evacuate the stadium. For safety reasons, tonight’s show at @Hersheypark has been postponed. Thank you and please exit safely,” the band said. The Twitter user who posted this video of the brief performance said it lasted eight minutes before it was shut down. Credit: @Real_Katie5SOS via Storyful
