Sub-zero Alberta chill causes ice crystals to form on frozen bubble

A soap-water bubble froze moments after it formed during chilly winter temperatures in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada on January 12. The video shows ice crystals forming on the bubble’s surface, transforming it into an ice orb. Jason Zackowski captured this video, which was shared on YouTube, after creating the bubble using a special solution. In the caption, Zackowski wrote it was -40C (-40F) in Red Deer that day. “I may have frozen my hands but it was so worth it for these gorgeous bubbles!!!” he wrote. Temperatures in the Alberta province dropped below zero on January 12, prompting an extreme cold warning from the county’s national weather service for many cities in the region, according to reports.
