Assault Suspect Dies by Suicide During Police Standoff

A suspect in a violent kidnapping died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police. Benjamin Obediah Foster was wanted for the attempted murder, kidnapping and assault of a woman who was found unconscious, bound and severely beaten. After a nationwide manhunt, with help from the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service, Foster was tracked down. Police say the suspect shot himself during the standoff and later died at the hospital.
