CalWood Fire Threatens Homes in Longmont, Colorado

Footage shot on October 17 shows the CalWood fire, which charred more than 9000 acres as of October 20, approaching properties in Longmont, Colorado. This video, filmed by Longmont resident Daniel Potochnik, shows the smoky conditions and danger to homes in the region, as the Centennial State grapples with a record-breaking wildfire season. According to reports, the blaze destroyed as many as 26 homes within three days of being sparked. Though dwarfed by the nearby 200,000 acre Cameron Peak fire, the CalWood fire made history as Boulder County’s largest recorded wildfire, local media reported. Credit: Daniel Potochnik via Storyful
