How to Wash Silk Clothing at Home
Silk is one of the most beautiful fabrics to wear, but it can also be a bit tricky to clean. Contrary to popular belief, however, you don’t have to take every silk item in your closet to the cleaners. This video shows you how to wash silk clothing at home as well as how to remove stains from silk clothing. After testing your garment for colorfastness, treat stains with a homemade solution consisting of lukewarm water, lemon, and white vinegar. Then, gently wash the garment by hand and remove excess water with a cotton towel. Tip: Never wring your silk items or toss them in the dryer – instead, let the garments drip dry from a padded hanger.
