Rainfall 'Flushes' Trash Onto California Beaches

Trash discarded in Los Angeles County is making its way to the San Gabriel and LA Rivers. Both waterways flow into the Pacific Ocean. Now, all of that trash is washing up on Southern California beaches. The marine operations superintendent for Long Beach, California, says crews are working overtime to remove the debris from the sand. An average month sees crews collecting 50 to 100 tons of trash, but newer statistics are expected to be much higher.
