Troy Chesley remembered

Baltimore Police Detective Troy Lamont Chesley, Sr., was remembered today in Northwest Baltimore as the 2600 block of Garrison Blvd. was renamed as Detective Troy Chesley Way. Detective Chesley was shot and killed in the 4500 block of Fairfax Rd. on January 9, 2007. A suspect attempted to rob him shortly after he got off duty and Detective Chesley took police action. After being shot, Detective Chesley was able to return fire. A suspect was later arrested, charged, convicted, and sentenced to life in prison without parole. Detective Chesley was a 13 year veteran of the Baltimore Police Department at the time of his death. His mother, Joyce Chesley, had the bittersweet honor of unveiling the sign. Dozens of friends, family, and co-workers attended the unveiling.
