James Wiseman wins Gatorade POY

James Wiseman has been named the National Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year. The Memphis East center averaged 25.8 points, 14.8 rebounds, 5.5 blocks and 1.3 steals per game. The Mustangs went 24-8 this season and made it to the championship game. He beat out PG Nico Mannion and PG R.J. Hampton for the Gatorade POY award. Wiseman, a Memphis signee, will play at the McDonald's All-American Game in April. “This is the perfect way to go in to McDonald’s,” Wiseman said. “We came up short this year in the state tournament and that was hard, but this definitely makes me feel a lot better.”
