Can Light Therapy Aid In Treating Bi-Polar Disorder

There is new information surrounding the treatment of people afflicted with bipolar disorder. The answer is said to be found by taking in daily doses of light therapy according to new research. Researchers found that people who spend time sitting in close proximity to a light-emitting box -- in this case, bright white light -- with exposures increasing between 15 minutes to an hour could greatly benefit from the practice. The study tracked people treated for a period of one month with bipolar disorder. According to UPI the study reported that "more than 68 percent of patients in the treatment group achieved a normal mood versus 22 percent of those in the placebo group."
