Ebola Confirmed In Democratic Republic Of Congo

The Democratic Republic of Congo is confirming a case of Ebola in Wangatane The town is close to the regional capital of Mbandaka, home to over 1 million people. The country’s minister of health says the outbreak has spread to a “new phase” This is largely because an “urban health zone” is now affected. Ebola spreads by direct contact with body fluids such as blood, and has a high risk of death. It kills between 25 to 90% of those infected, with an average of about 50%. Control of outbreaks requires coordinated medical services, and community engagement.
