US Egg Farm That Prompted Recall Had Rodent Infestation

According to the Washington Post, the US-based egg farm that produced salmonella-ridden eggs, Rose Acre Farms in North Carolina, had a heavy rodent infestation it failed to properly address. Last month, the US Food and Drug Administration issued a recall of eggs from Rose Acre that were linked to a salmonella outbreak. According to the FDA, the outbreak, which started on March 5, has sickened 35 people and hospitalized 11 as of April 16. More than 206 million eggs have been recalled from supermarkets since news of the outbreak started.
