Giant Line for Buses Snakes Around Block as Sydney Hit by Transport Delays

Sydney commuters faced a difficult ride to work on the morning of August 23 as repairs were made during rush hour at Town Hall Station, causing delays and cancellations along the TI, T2, T3, T8 and T9 lines, according to ABC. The repairs were necessitated by “a loose hatch on top of a train [which was] close to overhead wiring at Town Hall,” according to a T1 Sydney Trains tweet. Repairs, which began around 7 am local time, were finished and trains set to move again at a “reduced frequency” about two hours later. According to a report from 7NEWS, commuters trying to cross the Harbour Bridge were advised to walk, and long queues were spotted outside Town Hall as desperate workers tried to catch buses.
