Never too old! Glowing seesaws prove a big hit in midtown Manhattan

New Yorkers have been encouraged to bounce away the January blues by taking part in an interactive art exhibition in Midtown Manhattan. Traffic has been closed at 37th and 38th streets on Broadway to make room for 12-oversized illuminated seesaws created by Lateral Office and CS Design. The project, called Impulse, was first exhibited in Montreal in 2016 and aims to “activate public space…by engaging ideas of urban play,” according to the Lateral Office website. Travis Eby shared his footage after he came across the exhibition, describing it as “magical” and “an incredible use of urban space.” Eby noted that he did not miss the noise of car horns honking on the street, writing on Twitter, “if anyone can make a case for why a single inch of Broadway should have cars on it, I’m not listening”.
