Black Smoke Billows From Large Fire in Paterson, New Jersey

A large fire blazed on Straight Street in Paterson, New Jersey, on August 24, sending plumes of black smoke into the air, according to reports. Reporters in the area said the fire broke out at Straight and Narrow, a halfway house on Straight Street. Local news reports said smoke from the fire could be seen in New York City, and across other parts of New Jersey. Local residents warned motorists to plan alternate routes as the fire caused traffic buildup on Interstate 80 and other local roadways. The cause of the fire was unknown at the time of writing, and no injuries had been reported.
