Diver Frees Swell Shark and Removes Hooks From Its Mouth

Jack Breedon and Jules Casey went free diving off the Mornington Peninsula, in Victoria, to get some videos and photos of swell sharks. The duo soon found one, but realized the creature was in trouble. Casey wrote on Instagram, “It had two hooks in its mouth and the fishing line had become entangled in the seagrass, trapping the shark.” Breedon gently freed the shark and carried it to a nearby pier, where he borrowed a pliers from a fisherman and removed the hooks. He then released the shark and got some great photographs as it swam close by. Casey posted this video of the rescue to Instagram on June 10. Credit: onebreathdiver via Storyful
