Sudanese Doctors Join Anti-Government Protests in Khartoum

Doctors in Sudan marched from the city’s main hospital to the army complex in Khartoum to participate at a sit-in demonstration on April 17, according to reports. This video shows people marching in white coats. “In Sudan, we lack the basics, and that’s why the majority of protesters are medics because they are those who feel the people’s suffering,” Sama Omar al-Sadiq, a doctor participating in the protest, told the Agence France-Presse. According to Ugandan newspaper The Independent, the doctors marched as Sudan’s ousted president Omar al-Bashir was transferred to prison.
