Woman Believed to Be Dead Was Actually Alive: Report
A facility for Alzheimer’s patients declared a woman in their care dead, but she was not, according to a report from the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals. The woman was placed on hospice care at Glen Oaks Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Des Moines. She was pronounced dead a few days later by a licensed nurse, the report said, She was transported to a funeral home where an employee realized she was alive and called 911.
