Couple reopens Bendy's in Cahaba Heights the loss of their newborn son

Wendy and Ben Treadwell held the grand opening of their ice cream shop in Cahaba Heights on June 15, but a few short days later, the pregnant Wendy was admitted into the hospital and went into early labor. On June 23, Owen Treadwell was born three-and-a-half months early. Over the course of the next month, the Treadwells spent as much time as possible with Owen in the NICU. They tried to keep the business open but eventually decided to close to focus on Owen. Sadly, Owen "moved to heaven" on July 24. After three weeks into the grieving process, the Treadwells decided it was time to get Bendy's back open for business. On Friday, Bendy's reopened with its storefront covered in messages of support from the community. Learn more in the video above.
