LA Sheriff's Air Crew Performs Dramatic Rescue of Person Caught in Rising River

The LA County Sheriff’s Air Rescue team staged a dramatic rescue after a person was caught in the rising waters of the San Gabriel River. The rescue came after days of heavy rain had caused havoc across much of California. At least six people had died by January 17, reports said. Footage released by the LA County Sheriff’s Department on January 17 shows a member of the air rescue team being lowered toward the swollen river, near Peck Road in South El Monte.
