As State of Calamity Declared, Resident Shares Footage of Typhoon Kammuri's Landfall in Philippines

A state of calamity was declared in the Philippine province of Oriental Mindoro on December 5 as the effects of Typhoon Kammuri became clearer, with an estimated 3,000 families losing their homes owing to the storm. Oriental Mindoro resident Joy Ann Duenas captured this footage showing both the calm before Kammuri (also called Typhoon Tisoy by locals) touched down in the region on December 3, as well as the powerful wind and rain that arrived with it. “The day before the landfall the weather here was still sunny and no sign of rainfall,” Duenas told Storyful.
