Bushfires Leave Sydney Harbour in Red 'Smoke Haze'

Sydney landmarks were left in a smoky red haze on December 5, as the effects of bushfires in New South Wales continued to impact the day-to-day lives of locals. The New South Wales Rural Fire Service said on December 5 that the “smoke haze” would hang around Sydney and the Central Coast into the following day. The service said 110 fires were burning statewide, of which 63 were not contained. This footage shows Sydney Harbour Bridge and the city’s iconic Opera House shrouded in a red haze, and was shot by Descubre Sydney, a Spanish-language tourism company. The effects of the smoke were noted by a number of social media users on this date, with one Instagram user describing how they were “really struggling to breathe.” Credit: Descubre Sydney via Storyful
