Photos show the intense moment a group of people were rescued from the swelling Chamelecon River as they clung to a tree in Choloma, Honduras, on Thursday.

The stranded, who were rescued by helicopter by the Honduran Air Force, included several police officers, as well as a woman and child. The Honduran Air Force (FFAA) tweeted a video of the rescue on Thursday.

Honduras is dealing with major flooding after Hurricane Iota struck Central America, the second hurricane to strike the region in two weeks. Iota unleashed mudslides which tore apart buildings, leaving thousands homeless and killing more than 40 people, according to Reuters. Two weeks prior, Hurricane Eta killed more than 130.

Iota, which made landfall in Nicaragua as a Category 4 hurricane on Monday, was the strongest storm on record to ever strike the country.
