Likely 'Very Well Formed Dust Devil' Spotted in Ogden, Utah
A dusty whirlwind was spotted in the north Utah city of Ogden on July 28. The National Weather Service (NWS) said the vortex was likely “a very well formed dust devil or a very weak landspout at best, produced by localized rotation at the surface.” “Tornadoes and funnel clouds are much more powerful and originate from deep in-cloud rotation,” the service said. This footage by Ashley Bowden shows the dust devil swirling as it extends skyward. Credit: Ashley Bowden via Storyful
