Since 1972, Landsat satellites have been taking images of the Earth’s land surface from space, collecting data that serve as valuable resources for land use and land change research. The result of this program is an unprecedented record of the natural and human-induced changes on the global landscape, showing how shifts in population or climate change affect the topography of the planet.
