Federal government offices and D.C. schools are also closed today

If you have a snow day today, think again before seeking to take advantage of it by visiting a Smithsonian Institution museum or the National Zoo. They are closed owing to the weather.

Federal government offices in the area and D.C. Public Schools are also closed today. Many of the city’s public charter schools are closed as well. “Snow totals now vary from about 1.5 inches to 4 inches across the area, with less to the east of Interstate 95,” the Capital Weather Gang notes. “Some places have picked up an inch or more per hour over the last few hours.”
