The world's beaches that could soon be washed away

Some of the world’s postcard beaches are doing a disappearing act with many more likely to suffer the same fate. In fact, half of the world’s sandy beaches could disappear by the end of this century, according to a recent study published in Nature Climate Change. While coastal erosion is a natural process, the combination of higher sea levels and stronger storms could spell the end for many beaches. The authors estimate that up to 40% of beach erosion could be prevented by limiting global warming. Here we look at some precious shorelines that could soon be washed away….
