Thousands Evacuated As Volcano Threatens MASSIVE Eruption
Ready to blow
The Indonesian government has issued its highest possible warning for the area around Mount Semeru, a volatile volcano in eastern Java that has violently erupted for the second time in as many years. Plumes of smoke spiraled 50,000 feet (15,000m) into the air while rivers of lava spewed from the summit, and several surrounding villages have been blanketed in a thick coat of ash. 2,000 people have so far been evacuated, and mercifully there have not yet been any casualties. The volcano last erupted in December of last year, killing 51 people and injuring hundreds more.
