Timelapse Shows Smoke Billowing Above Wildfire Near Las Vegas

Timelapse footage shows smoke billowing from a fire that started on Mount Charleston, about 40 miles west of Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sunday, June 28, and grew to around 2,800 acres as of July 1, incident information said. The US Forest Service is reporting 10 percent containment and nearly 2,800 acres burned, down from the 5,000 acres that were originally estimated, according to reports. The National Weather Service said that the fire spread rapidly “due to increasing downslope winds” and warned drivers to “use caution” due to the smoke plumes.
